Irish Software Association Honors Straatum with Technical Innovation Award for Imprint MX2

DUBLIN, Ireland – November 16, 2005

Straatum Processware Ltd., the premier supplier of real-time (FDC) software for semiconductor manufacturing, was honored by the Irish Software Association at its Annual Software Awards presentation in November. Straatum was chosen over five other companies for the Technical Innovation Award for its newest FDC product, Imprint MX2.

The award noted that Straatum “pioneered the development of real-time fault detection and classification solutions for the semiconductor industry.” The award also cited Straatum’s strong IP portfolio of 14 patents on advanced process control (APC) applications, as well as its involvement in university-based research programs in APC. Straatum also was cited for transitioning from a hardware company to a software company in response to market demands, while investing “significant resources in their own research and product innovation.”

“Straatum is honored to receive this prestigious award from the Irish Software Association, which acknowledges our successes in developing the world’s first real-time, knowledge-based FDC system,” said Brendan Coyle, Straatum’s chief executive officer. “Imprint MX2 is the leading process-control tool for helping fabs and foundries detect and prevent costly excursions, control wafer loss and achieve higher yields.”

The Technical Innovation Award follows Straatum’s recent expansions, including the doubling in size of its customer support group in the U.S. and Europe, and the opening of a global sales office in San Jose, Calif. In 2004, Straatum received $5.65 million in third-round venture funding from ACT Venture Capital, Intel Capital, and Vision Capital.

Formed in 1978, the Irish Software Association is the leading trade association for the software industry in Ireland, which ranks second to the United States in worldwide volume of software exports, according to Enterprise Ireland. The software awards are designed to honor software and IT professionals, as well as established and early-stage companies for business leadership and sales and technical innovation.

Introduced in the spring of 2005, Imprint MX2 is the world’s first truly scalable FDC system for semiconductor manufacturing. Its real-time, knowledge-based FDC system provides fabs and foundries with portable fault libraries, improved FDC sensitivity across fault types and data-mining capabilities.

Imprint MX2 also enables maximum extraction of information from process-state sensors, such as broadband radio-frequency or broadband optical sensors, leading to optimum fault sensitivity. The system’s new data-mining features include a SQL Server® database, which enables customers to easily archive, retrieve and manage data, as well as correlate to metrology and other fab data-sets.
